Where do you put your trust?

Where do you put your trust? To an object??? to someone??? Putting your trust to an object or to someone other than God was proven to be dangerous. A brief history from king Asa of Judah had proven that putting your trust to someone other than God is a foolish thing to do. During king Asa's early reign in Judah, an ethiopian with an army of one million men and three hundred chariots attacked Judah. In that attacked King Asa cried out to the Lord.
"Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God, “O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, OLord our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O Lord, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!” So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians in the presence of Asa and the army of Judah, and the enemy fled. Asa and his army pursued them as far as Gerar, and so many Ethiopians fell that they were unable to rally. They were destroyed by the Lord and his army, and the army of Judah carried off a vast amount of plunder.
- 2 Chronicles 14:11-13
But during the latter part of his reign king Asa shifted direction. He put his trust on a mere man to the king of Aram. When king Baasha of Israel was invading Judah, king Asa made a treaty with the king of Aram. Along with the treaty, king Asa gave all the gold and silver from temple treasuries and royal palace to king of Aram. When king Baasha of Israel heard about the treaty between king Asa and the king of Aram, king Baasha retreated (2 Chronicles 16:2-4). Think that king Asa win??? The story doesn't end there.
"At that time Hanani the seer came to King Asa and told him, “Because you have put your trust in the king of Aram instead of in the Lord your God, you missed your chance to destroy the army of the king of Aram. Don’t you remember what happened to the Ethiopians and Libyans and their vast army, with all of their chariots and charioteers? At that time you relied on the Lord, and he handed them over to you. The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. What a fool you have been! From now on you will be at war.”
- 2 Chronicles 16:7-9
Be wise, don't miss the chance of being victorious just because you made the wrong decision of putting your trust to someone other than God. Put your TRUST on GOD ALONE.

The giant of worry

As I woke up this morning, my mind was filled with thoughts of a certain client. Actually it's not a thoughts, it's worries. My mind was filled with worries about this certain client. Imagine worries as early as 6:30 in the morning. My cell phone alarms signalling that I have to wake up. After the alarm, I usually take a ten minutes nap before getting out of bed. In between that ten minutes my mind was occupied with worries about this client. It's already the second day of March and I haven't started it's drafted FS. What am I supposed to do with the lacking documents? What am I supposed to do with an incomplete GL. Honestly, My energy drained whenever I think about that client. But hey STOP! Didn't God help you last year? you finished it before the deadline, before April 15 right? Didn't God help you also with your monthly deadline involving this client? Yes, yes, yes. He did. So why are you still worried? Beat the giant of worry with a stone and a sling like what David did with Goliath. Beat the giant of worry by the stone of the past***. "I remember the days of old, I ponder all your great works and think about what you have done." God never fails. And a stone of prayer***. Lay down your request, your worries to God. Don't let the giant of worry to defeat you.

Am I becoming the person that I dislike???

"Whatever you do work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord not for men"
Lately I've been feeling down, most of the time I lose my temper. I don't know why, but perhaps because of fatigue. Actually my endurance with work is long but whenever I come to deal with client "na pasaway" my energy is draining. I want to take a leave from work just for a day but my papa won't let me =(. In additions to that, I'm realizing something, I am becoming the person that I dislike. And this realization add to my burden... Back when I was a student, I get annoyed with group mates who never help, a leader who doesn't do anything, in other words irresponsible. Sometimes my grades suffer because of those kind of people. I remember one incident in our literature class where in we have to memorize the poem of "lord randal" and put tunes in it, and sang that ballad with interpretation by group in class. I start memorizing that ballad little by little since the day the teacher announced that assignment. As the performance day come nearer, other groups were already practicing but mine??? I think it was Friday that our group had a meeting, the leader assigned the task of doing the actions to someone and we have to meet on the next day (Saturday) for practice. The next day it was raining, but despite of the bad weather I came to school but my group mates were nowhere to be found. Well I understand the fact that the weather was bad, in fact the school activity for that day was suspended, so I just went home. Then the leader called and asked if I knew the tunes of a certain song, I told her that I don't. (I'm not a fan of music so I'm not so familiar with many songs). I guess it was on Monday (the performance day), out of eight only two knew the tunes, and the rest of us just hum as instructed by the leader. After our performance the teacher asked what the six of us were doing. The leader replied we were humming and was supposed to do the action... I failed. Fast forward to present. Me and my two office mates were assigned to audit a certain client, I think I did my part but when sir said "sino ba sa inyo ang keypoint (referring to my two office mates) kayo dalawa ang nagtutulungan" I was in a shock mode, does that mean that I'm not in any way helping. Am I becoming the person that I dislike? I'm sorry Father God for being a disappointment to my employer and most especially to you.

True joy

Where to find true joy? Are you wandering where can it be found? Well... True joy is not found in anything or anyone except in Christ alone. To proof that it cannot found in anything or anyone, I'll tell about my own experience in searching for joy. When I finally resigned from my first job I thought I found joy but I didn't. When I got a job from a small auditing firm after more than three months of job hunting, I thought I found joy but I didn't. When I resigned from this second job and get hired by another firm, I thought I found joy but I didn't. In all this circumstances I had felt the temporary joy. Temporary joy? Yes temporary joy, because it gives me temporary relief from my situations, I thought I found joy but that joy that I felt was not really true joy because it didn't last. True joy last despite the good and bad circumstances and True joy can only be found in Christ.

Better than happily ever after

Last December 29, 2012, Our boss treated us to watched the Disney on ice featuring the "princesses and heroes". I really enjoy the show even my office mates notice that. Actually watching shows like that was one of my dreams, and I'm thankful to God for that blessing. I love fairy tales stories, princes and princesses story that end up in a happily ever after ending. I also want to have fairy tale love story that ends up in happily ever after. But sadly life's is a reality, there's no such thing as happily ever after. In fact there are lot of separations, annulments and divorces. In reality, the story does not end after the wedding when the prince and princess (couple) says "I do". After the I do, another chapter of the book had began. As they journey to the next season of their life as married couple, there would be a lot of trials, difficulties, problems that might come up, they will discovered their differences, there bad sides and the like. Trials are just normal, no one is exempted from that. Differences, of course there would be differences because our Creator created us uniquely from each other. Bad sides, all have those. But remember the promise made on the altar that "In sickness or in health, for richer or for poorer till death do us apart". Not till trials, problems, bad sides, differences do us apart but death. Though happily ever after does not exist in reality, a long lasting marriage do. To have a long lasting marriage both the party should work together, should decide beforehand that they would kept the promise they made on the altar despite the difficulties that they may encounter along the way. Easier said than done right??? But with God at the center of the marriage, nothing is impossible. "We can do everything through Christ who strengthens us". A marriage with God's blessings, a marriage with God at the center of it, is a marriage that will last. Better than happily ever after.
